CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
"I learned so much about the labor and delivery process as well as how to prepare for postpartum times. I appreciated that my husband and I could learn together in order to make the best decisions for our family during labor and delivery. In the learning and accessing of resources I was able to trust my body and trust my heart. I was able to mentally consider all the options while also emotionally preparing for any situation. I realized that I was so strong - physically, mentally, and spiritually! Our doula, Samantha, continued to validate me in moments of labor that were challenging. "
"I learned to be more comfortable speaking up for myself and making my own decisions, especially when it comes time for the hospital. Having the support available to me, I was able to communicate with my nurses through the whole process about what I did and did not want in terms of treatment and medicines that were offered to me. I feel like a completely different person since before pregnancy. I've learned to be a lot more patient and go with the flow, as babies tend to choose their own schedules. I started the doula game fairly late, so if anything, I would just make sure that I reached out for services earlier in pregnancy. The whole time I was in contact with the doula team, I felt supported, and that there was good communication, I wouldn't change anything. I appreciated the gentle guidance for me and my husband in the delivery room. Havilah was there to provide physical relief and help coach my husband in ways to support me emotionally and mentally. My doula came prepared for my dream labor experience, even though things moved a little too quickly in use all of it!"
" My husband and I definitely learned more about the birthing process. We really appreciated the intention from Havilah for our 1-1 classes with her. We felt adequately prepared walking into our birth experience with all the possible outcomes that could have taken place."
"Havilah was amazing at directing me during my birth at VBH. There were many times where my body stalled or stopped progressing. She knew multiple techniques to help my body progress again. She also is such a calming presence and constantly encouraged me. She also validated me and helped me feel seen with any concerns or worries I had. She always helped keep my mind at ease!"
"Where do I begin? Your pregnancy, educational classes were so thorough, fun and encouraging to go through. You are a wonderful teacher! I felt like I had pretty good knowledge of all things, baby and pregnancy and even postpartum. But you went into the details of how everything is working in mamas body and why it is doing what it’s doing. The little things really do matter and it gives you a better understanding of you and your baby and the miracle that is happening. It’s also great for the husbands who don’t quite understand what is actually happening and going on so it gives them a window into your reality, which in my opinion made my pregnancy so much more fun."
"I always thought I was going to hate being pregnant. You don’t know what you don’t know, and if all you’ve ever seen was women on social media and even family members talking about how horrible it is, that is what you think it’s going to be like for you.
So I was determined to change my mindset and approach my pregnancy from a totally different perspective. I wanted to have a totally God centered experience with the absolute miracle that was growing inside of me that God had only made possible. Praying, eating nutritious foods and staying active played a big part. I ended up really enjoying my pregnancy!"
"Having a Doula was the best decision my husband and I ever made in our pregnancy journey. Doing the pregnancy educational classes for my husband to be prepared for labor and delivery was pretty essential. I don’t know if I could have taught him well enough to make him feel confident and prepared for when the time came to have our baby. The emotional and spiritual support was also a must for me to stay relaxed and have a wonderful labor experience which could have been very difficult because of my posterior uterus. Having a Doula that knew the specific labor positions to help my baby engage and move down was such a relief. I know my labor and even delivery could have looked much differently than what I had hoped and dreamed. I’m so thankful she made those dreams come true for me."
"Madison was amazing! From day one Madison was comforting, friendly, and knowledgeable! Madison took time to hear my story from my first birth and how I wanted it to be different the second time. Going into labor I wanted to make it as far as possible without an epidural and Madison was always there to support and help me make informed decisions (we made it to 8.5 cm before epidural and ended with a 10.4 pound baby!). Madison was always asking me how I felt about information received and always put it back in my court for decisions. During labor Madison was always one step ahead of us and helped my support team know what to do to help comfort me through the next contractions! She helped us remember things that we talked about prior to labor to make it more enjoyable and helped us stay on track with our birth plan! Madison stayed next to me after the baby was born and it was so comforting since I wanted my husband to be with the baby. In the end, I feel like I came out of this whole experience with a friend not just a doula! I couldn't recommend Madison enough! Thank you for everything Lynchburg Doula Services and Madison!"
"This was our second pregnancy and second time using a doula. We felt more informed this time around and knew what we wanted and how to better ask for it then with our first experience. Though we still didn't achieve the natural vaginal birth experience we desired due to the baby presenting breech, it was still a very redemptive and positive experience overall. "
"Samantha was very communicative and responsive whenever I had a question or wanted to share something, very positive and had a calm demeanor that helped my husband and I relax and feel confident in the choices we were making."
"Havilah is absolutely amazing! She worked around our busy schedule and communicated well with us. Day of, she was fantastic! Through labor she not only gave me increased confidence in birthing my daughter, but helped ease the anticipated pain of labor. My husband greatly appreciated her support and help knowing how he could best assist and encourage me. My first labor was a good experience, but Havilah made my second a great one!"
"Havilah at Lynchburg Doulas was amazing prenatally and postnatally! We don’t live in Lynchburg but did all of the prenatal classes via zoom and they were so helpful. We were given a handbook with all of the information and then it was broken down in each class. We appreciated the 1:1 education and being able to ask all our questions immediately but then go back to the material and have it readily accessible to us. Havilah was very well educated and knew so much information about prenatal, birth, and postnatal. She happily answered all of our questions no matter how simple or extravagant they were. Havilah helped us feel prepared for birth and postpartum and it was all so helpful when giving birth. Our only regret was not living there to have Havilah help us during delivery. We highly recommend Lynchburg Doulas no matter is you are local are not!"
"My experience with Lynchburg Doula Services was nothing short of amazing, particularly with Havilah!
Having Havilah by my side as I brought our baby girl into the world allowed me to have the birth experience that I prayed for. Being a second time mom and wanting to go unmedicated for the second time, I knew I would need all of the support that I could have.
If I could describe the morning of my labor and delivery in just a few words, it would be calm, supported, and filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit. Havilah provided me with support physically, emotionally, spiritually, and nutritionally and allowed my husband to be present right beside me the whole time.
I will forever be thankful for Havilah for all she has done in helping me have the birth experiences that I prayed for and will always recommend her for any expecting families!"
"As I reflect on my birth experience, I can’t help but feel overwhelming gratitude to Havilah for her support and guidance. Throughout my pregnancy, she offered resources and information to help me gain the confidence to pursue a home birth after my first birth in the hospital was filled with so much trauma & disappointment. Havilah was so attentive throughout my labor & her support gave me comfort during & between contractions. As things intensified, her words of affirmation & calming spirit helped create a peaceful atmosphere that felt safe & allowed me to trust my birthing instincts. I ended up having the redemptive birth I prayed for in my home, surrounded by a team I trust. I am forever grateful for Havilah & would highly recommend her services to everyone I know."
“My family is so glad we connected with Lynchburg Doula Services. They were such a blessing to us as we prepared for delivery. The classes made us feel so much more prepared and confident as delivery time approached.
Morgan was so wonderful to work with. She has such a calming presence and was the perfect match for us. Although our birth did not go according to plan due to some medical complications, Morgan remained so supportive. She continued to check in on us and we were so grateful for the care she showed us”
"The birth of our daughter Adalynn was chaotic, to say the least. I had gone to see my doctor for a regular check-up, and because my blood pressure was higher than she was comfortable with, I was scheduled to be induced. I was supposed to meet with my doula, Madison, for the first time that same week. But plans changed, and we ended up meeting for the first time in the delivery room! My husband and I waited almost two days to get the call to come to the hospital. After being admitted, things progressed slowly, and we spent another 2 days waiting for her arrival. I asked Madison to come when they started the pitocin. She arrived right when they administered the first dose of the medicine. Madison stayed by my side and was so incredibly supportive! She talked me through contractions, helped with different pain relief methods, and was just an absolute joy to have in the delivery room. When
time came for me to start pushing, Madison was there to help support my husband and me through all of that. She took pictures of my delivery, which is something that I cherish! We loved our experience with Madison and still talk to this day about how we couldn't have done it without her! Even after delivery, in the following weeks, Madison checked in on us and made sure we were all doing well. Having a doula made our labor and delivery experience so incredible, we highly recommend Lynchburg Doula Services!"
"This was my first birth experience, and I am very aware of how valuable the support that I received from Havilah and her team was to my experience of bringing my baby girl into the world. The education that I received leading up birth and the coaching and support during labor helped me to be more informed, prepared, and at peace than I could have imagined possible.
I was induced due to preeclampsia, which was certainly not what I had planned on, but even through the unexpected and unknown, I felt supported and informed in my decision-making. Having their support to speak truth over you was so necessary for me to have a positive pregnancy and birth experience, and I would recommend them to anyone in the Lynchburg area."
"Lynchburg Doula Services was amazing. They were attentive to my needs and really helped me with whatever I needed. Aimee, my birth doula, was so understanding and caring. She really gave me the tools and support I needed for my first ever non-hospital/waterbirth/non-medicated birth. It was an amazing experience that Aimee made even better! Thank you so much!"
